Movie of the Day – City of the Living Dead

I guess I am going on a zombie kick, probably due to the fact that Walking Dead is coming to an end and then we get our Game of Thrones.  After re-watching Doctor Butcher M.D. I was in need of some more splatter fest flicks and you know you can always rely on the stylings of Lucio Fulci.  This man certainly knows what to give horror fans in terms of their black heart loving, gore fests that really only serve to come up with some of the most gruesome looking death scenes.  This one certainly has all the hallmarks of being a cult classic for the deaths alone.

Movie of the Day – Doctor Butcher M.D.

I am certain that visiting this M.D. is not going to be covered by my insurance.  I think being use in an experiment to prolong my lifespan would be considered more cosmetic surgery than anything else, which is a shame cause Doctor Butcher does have some convincing evidence that would lead me to believe that one could live a hundred years longer than intended.  Plus his bedside manner seems rough at first, but that is just apprehension from patients being used for illegal experiments, you’ll get over it once you go under the knife.

Movie of the Day – Night of the Creeps

Let’s see:  Space Worms.  Axe-wielding maniacs.  Zombie like infected.  Boobs.  One-liners.  Horror.  Comedy.  Overall goodtime.

Night of the Creeps has everything you ever wanted in a horror/comedy movie.  And boobs!

Movie of the Day – Dead Heat

Holy Hell!  Who would of thought that a movie with Treat Williams and Joe Piscopo was something I never knew that I truly wanted.  It’s the ultimate buddy duo horror, action, comedy movie that I never realized existed until Netflix recommend that I check this out cause apparently I was watching a lot of bad movies and this is right up there with it.  Don’t get me wrong, this is a bad movie, but shit man I loved watching this terrible movie about a cop named Roger Mortis, basically stopping undead criminals by becoming undead himself.  Oh yeah, Roger Mortis, Rigor mortis, fucking awesome.

Movie of the Day – Dead Alive

To think, there was a time before The Hobbit, before King Kong and before The Lord of the Rings Trilogy when Peter Jackson wasn’t making this major blockbusters and employing half of New Zealand  he was actually making schlocky, over the top horror movies.  I mean I loved The Frighteners, like a lot, but it’s is amazing to see Peter Jackson’s earlier work, something a lot of people wouldn’t associate with his current body of work.  But for me, he will always be the guy who made a priest kick ass for the lord.  Today’s post is the ultra bloody affair, Dead Alive.

Shit Movie of the Day – House of the Dead

I loved…LOVED…playing the video game House of the Dead at the local arcade.  I mean you can’t go wrong with a game that just lets you shoot the undead and various monsters.  It was fun, entertaining, and a quarter waster.  It had a story, I think, about some detectives looking for a girl or something.  Whatever it was a shoot ‘em up arcade game and damn fun.  This Uwe Boll movie, yeah I am covering one of his movies, is nothing even remotely close to what the game was.  Shit I would have rather watched two video game inept people try and play the game for two hours instead of watching this movie.

Music Video of the Day – Thriller

Yup, that’s right, Michael Jackson’s Thriller is the movie of the day.  One of the best music videos around that managed to incorporate horror movie elements and even getting Vincent Price to lend his voice to the work.  Werewolves, zombies, creepy house, the occult, and a meta movie within a movie, this is the one of the best musical horror movie around.  Yeah it’s only 14 minutes, but are you going to argue with the King of Pop?

Movie of the Day – Re-Animator

Zombie Rom Com.  If that doesn’t sell you on the premise of Re-Animator, then you must not be a fan of absurd horror movies.  Re-Animator is one of my favorite horror movies, solely for the reason that movie is just so subversive, darkly humorous, and gory.  A veritable cocktail mix for horror fans that are looking for a little something for everyone.  A buffet of choices for viewers and it would probably make a good group movie.  Also, who doesn’t love zombie movies?

Movie of the Day – The Cabin In The Woods

Man, I couldn’t even begin to tell you how floored I was by this movie when I saw it many months ago.  I am not the biggest horror movie fan out there, but what this movie managed to do was make a satire of horror movies while still delivering all  things we  have come to associate with the genre.  If you haven’t seen the movie, I suggest seeing this before reading my little musings and full linked review.  It works best when I don’t spoil the whole premise of the movie.  SO GO NOW!

Movie of the Day – Versus

I seriously don’t know what to make of this movie other than it is all about zombie ass kicking.  I was first clued into this movie when a friend managed to get a bootleg copy of this film from the UK because it wasn’t available here in America.  I didn’t know what to expect and the story in the movie is something akin to a ridiculous level of disbelief and understanding.  Personally I didn’t care for the lack of story, but what interested me was the action and premise.  This is without a doubt, a coke binge of action, zombies, mobsters, gun play and sword fighting.
