Movie of the Day – City of the Living Dead

I guess I am going on a zombie kick, probably due to the fact that Walking Dead is coming to an end and then we get our Game of Thrones.  After re-watching Doctor Butcher M.D. I was in need of some more splatter fest flicks and you know you can always rely on the stylings of Lucio Fulci.  This man certainly knows what to give horror fans in terms of their black heart loving, gore fests that really only serve to come up with some of the most gruesome looking death scenes.  This one certainly has all the hallmarks of being a cult classic for the deaths alone.

Movie of the Day – Doctor Butcher M.D.

I am certain that visiting this M.D. is not going to be covered by my insurance.  I think being use in an experiment to prolong my lifespan would be considered more cosmetic surgery than anything else, which is a shame cause Doctor Butcher does have some convincing evidence that would lead me to believe that one could live a hundred years longer than intended.  Plus his bedside manner seems rough at first, but that is just apprehension from patients being used for illegal experiments, you’ll get over it once you go under the knife.

Movie of the Day – Aliens vs Predator: Requiem

I am a simple man folks, sometimes I don’t care if a movie has some sort of coherent plot, decent acting, compelling characters or even the bare minimum for critics to give it a passing grade without resorting to zero stars or whatever they use to say a movie is crap.  I like popcorn flicks as much as the next person and today, I got just the one for you all, specifically for those that are currently stuck in the midwest snowstorm of whatever dumbass name it is this time.  Let’s get chestbursty with Aliens vs Predator: Requiem.

Movie of the Day – Maniac

The only reason that this movie popped into my psyche was because of the recent red band trailer for remake of this very movie starring Elijah Wood.  Yes, Frodo is taking his turn as the insane serial killer in a remake of this brutal movie.  I have to admit, having gone back to rewatch Maniac from 1980, this was absolute sheer insanity.  I thought maybe I was imagining some of the scenes I remember way back when, but yeah, full on shotgun to the face.  That is just a small bit of the whole film and what to expect from Maniac.

Movie Review – The ABCs of Death

It has been a long time since I have reviewed a movie on this site.  I mean I have seen a lot of movie since my last review, but time just has not been on my side and also other pressing issues.  So I thought why the fuck not and review a movie that will be showing at our local Alamo Drafthouse here in KC, a movie in which I will be hosting on Friday night.  I previously chose this movie as a movie of the day post, and frankly I just had to do this full review.  If you want to read the abridged review, check out the post here.  If you want the full review, well check out my ABCs Review of The ABCs of Death after the jump.

Movie of the Day – Duel to the Death

I have not had the pleasure of reviewing a kung fu, martial arts movie in some time and today folks I bring you utter fucking gold.  Duel to the Death is by far an away, an over the top slash fest of amazing proportions in that there is nothing but utter madness taking place in this movie.  Let me give a quick rundown on the highlights of this movie:  You got two master swordsmen battling one another to see who is the best, ninjas out the ass, kamikaze ninjas, ninjas that turn into voltron, ninjas who take the shape of one large ninja, ninjas who who fucking rain down an ungodly amount of ninja stars and oh yeah, did I mean one of the best sword battles ever.  Ninja Ninja Ninja!

Movie of the Day – The Toxic Avenger

In my last post, I talked about Poultrygeist and how it was going to be part of a double feature with Mr. Lloyd Kaufman at our local Alamo Drafthouse.  As nutty and shit house insane that movie was, the Troma is well versed in the absurd as The Toxic Avenger is the ultimate flagship property and mascot of a company that deals in exploitative schlock.  And this movie also happens to be part of the Double Feature so why not cover it as well.

Movie of the Day – V/H/S

After recently watching The ABCs of Death, the most twisted, horror anthology out there, it got me to come back to the last horror collection that I watched and reviewed.  V/H/S was a movie that I got to enjoy at the True/False Fest last year, as we were the second audience to see the movie since Sundance.  It was a compilation of new and veteran directors getting to play with the found footage medium while dazzling us with small vignettes of horror.  A clever ruse was in place as the found footage sections played into a much larger, overarching piece of footage, a meta found footage movie happening within the found footage movie.
